Why single-thread speed matters for game servers
Most game servers advance the world in a main loop, a "tick", that runs on one core. When the tick takes too long, players see rubber-banding and lag no matter how many cores the server has. A processor built for high clock speeds, like AMD Ryzen, finishes each tick sooner. Gen4 NVMe SSD storage keeps world saves and chunk loading from stalling the loop.

Popular game servers on Windows
Popular dedicated servers, often installed with Valve's SteamCMD tool, include Minecraft (Java or Bedrock), Palworld, Valheim, Rust, ARK, Counter-Strike 2 community servers, Project Zomboid and others. Emulators and light games over RDP
Light 2D games and older titles can run over Remote Desktop because Windows draws them on the CPU, but expect some delay compared with a local PC. Android emulators are different: most need hardware virtualization inside the server (nested virtualization), which is not part of our plan specification, so do not count on them. Can I use RDP for gaming?
For hosting game servers, yes. For playing modern 3D games through Remote Desktop, no: there is no GPU, and RDP is designed for desktop work rather than fast 3D graphics.
Does the VPS include a GPU?
No. No plan includes a GPU; graphics are drawn on the CPU.
Can I host a Palworld or Minecraft server?
Can I run Android emulators on the VPS?
Do not count on it. Most Android emulators need nested virtualization, which is not part of our plan specification. Ask us before you order if you depend on one.
How much RAM does a game server need?
It depends on the game, the player count and mods. Check the game's dedicated-server requirements and leave about 2 GB for Windows Server itself.
Which location gives my players the lowest ping?
